Region objects create a logical grouping for physically close distribution and collection point server shares. This grouping makes it possible for the agent to know which server to fail over to in the case of a distribution/collection point failure or to simply handle load balancing. There are two types of regions “Regional Office” and “Satellite Office” that affect the way applications get distributed. When an application gets created all regional offices are automatically added to the new application while satellite regions have to be added manually. Once a region is added to the application’s regions list and the application object is saved the application package will get copied to all the distribution points that belong to that region.
